My favourite spots in Kota Bharu, Kelantan

Kelantan is a state that is located in the East Coast of the Peninsular of Malaysia. Its capital, Kota Bahru is situated in the northeastern corner of the state. With its bustling vibrant modern city centre and traffic-clogged streets, Kota Bahru is becoming like Ipoh and Penang alike. But this is a city that is very special by its own. It is rich in Malay Islamic culture, colourful markets, famous for its Batiks, Caftans and best of all, it is well-known for its heavenly choices of food cuisine!!!

This recent short school break, me & my family were in Kelantan, I took a couple of hours just to quench my addiction for my favorite food here. Among them are the D'Family Selera CPT Special. CPT actually means Cendol Pulut Tapai. It is located near the KB Fire Brigade Station. As to my knowledge, this is one of the famous Cendol Pulut Tapai area in Kota Bahru, besides another one near the KB Stadium. Another of my favorite food spot is the Hover Restaurant of which is famous for its Nasi Sumatera cuisine.

Besides the eating spots, we also shopped around for nice caftans and batiks at shopping complexes like Pasar Siti Khadijah and Pusat Batik Kelantan. Another place famous for its Islamic products like religious books, CDs, handicrafts, halal foods and etc is Syarikat Jaafar Rawas.

It is also a must for you to buy packets of Serunding Daging/Ayam (Beef/Chicken Floss) and also Keropok Kering (Dried Keropok Chips) if you are in Kelantan. We normally buy at Salma Serunding at Jalan Kubur Maras, KB, in fact there are plenty of serunding and keropoks shops in that area.

Kota Bahru is indeed a very unique and rich in culture of an Islamic City like no other!
